It's June, I know.....

.....but the RAYS are in first place in the AL East. I am a RAYS fan, and to all you people that think I'm a bandwagon let's flashback to close to the playoffs last year.

I posted this in a blog:

I have been to 5 Tampa Bay Devil Rays games, and even though they aren't the best around, they still draw a decent crowd. The atmosphere is great the talent level is getting up there and in a couple of years, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rays aren't the beast of the east. I know, I know, it's kind of farfetched but you see, there is a TON of talent on this ball club, you got BJ Upton, Carl Crawford, Johnny Gomes, and Delmon Young just to name a few that can really smack the ball. This is a very young club, that given a few years to grow and mature, can and more than likely will beat the powerhouses in the ML's.

To all you haters, Lick me.

I've been a RAYS fan since my dad moved to Tampa about eight years ago.

Thats all I wanted to say.

It has Affected all of us

Let's rewind to 1 day ago at, say, 1:30-2 PM. Everyone is out shopping for Christmas, or whatever at Von Maur, and Westroads Mall. Everything is fine and dandy, just a normal Wednesday afternoon. All the sudden, gunshots.

Some psycho kid walks into Westroads Mall and takes down 8 innocent human beings. 8 HUMAN LIVES HE TOOK AWAY. All because he was depressed. It has made me sick to think about it ever since I heard the news.

Now I have talked to people and they have said, "Oh you must have some sympathy for him, he was raised bad, abused, etc." I have no sympathy WHATSOEVER towards that kid. Not a damn ounce of sympathy. Now, if he would have taken his own life and that's all, of course I would have sympathy for him, but now he took 8 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents, etc. away from their families.

His suicide note from what I hear went like this:

"I've always wanted to be famous, I'm going out in style."

Guess what, media? You made his dream come true. You will drag this out for the next 2 weeks, and give him just what he wanted. As for the "going out in style" bullshit, taking 8 innocent lives and taking your own is not going out in style. It is absolute cowardness. Going out in style is growing some marbles and getting into a shootout with police after what you did. That is going out in style (not that I would condone it anyways.) What he did was an act of cowardness. He took the lives of 8 innocent people, and I hope he is now burning in hell.

I am absolutely sickened by this, and I can't wait until I don't have to hear about it anymore.

Who woulda Thunk it?

Missouri is number 1. SAY WHAAAAAAAAA? Kansas is 11-1? SAY WHAAAAAAAAA? If anyone had said this is how the college football season would turn out, they would be in the psyhco ward with all the other crazy "psychics." This is ridiculous. Oh and as for Nebraska, I'd like to give a shout out to Bill Callacan't. He really showed some class in his 4 years as head coach. HAHAHAHA just kidding. SIANARA SUCKER!!!

UNO hockey has been off to a not so good start. They started off winning the stampede like I said before, but then they went and got swept by Miami and swept by Michigan. They then took 4 points from Ohio State. Split against Ferris State, and took 3 out of 4 points from Alaska. NOT ALASKA-FAIRBANKS, ALASKA. No matter what anyone says, it is ALASKA UNIVERSITY, not ALASKA-FAIRBANKS.

High school basketball is just around the corner, with Bryan opening their season tomorrow night against Omaha South. They are going to crush them. The Bears reload with the front three J. Wallace, K. Browne, and K. Delouny. Bryan is looking to take it all the way and hopefully not get screwed over in the state playoffs again.

Until next time I get bored, this is Jared Arndt.

Its About Time

I haven't written in awhile but here is the gist of my last month.

Hockey has started finally. I play for OMAHA West/Skutt, the team O Bryan is associated with. We have started 0-1-1 with a tie to Burke 4-4, and a loss to Papillion 4-6, in which i played all of 2 minutes after getting knocked out by a kid who chose to cross check me in the face.

UNO Opened their season off last Friday against Manitoba with an 8-1 victory. Jeremie Dupont started, and played the whole game only giving up 1 goal. Mick Lawrence looks just unbelievable and his line with Bryan Marshall and Brandon Scero just clicked the whole night. In the 4:05 game, Canisus lost to Alabama-Huntsville in THE most boring game I have ever witnessed. Saturday, UNO came out and defeated UAH 5-1. Jerad Kauffman played the whole game in net, letting only 1 goal in, which yes, was a great call by Sergott. Mick Lawrence put 2 more in the back of the net. Oh by the way, they wore just about the ugliest jerseys in the world BOTH nights. Don't get me wrong, it was a great cause, but I just do not think the jerseys should have been screen printed. Oh yeah, almost forgot about football. First I would just like to congratulate the Nebraska Cornhuskers for sucking, and also for firing Steve Pedersen. Notre Dame, well hey at least they beat UCLA. I just hope they can squeak one out against Navy and make it 44 years in a row.

And good old William Jennings Bryan High School. What is there to say about good old WJ Bryan? Well we finished the regular season at 3-6, with sophomore QB Cody Kottich at the reigns. In the Northwest game, I do believe his line was a little like 7-13 199 Yards Passing; 13 attempts 100 yards rushing? Oh yeah, he'll make it big. We face Millard West this Friday 1 PM at Buell Stadium.

Until Next Time Folks,

See you later

Disappointment is the correct word

Shear and utter disappointment. That is the one and only way to describe the Omaha Bryan and Notre Dame Football seasons so far. O Bryan has started 1-2 with yet another loss, this time to the hands of the Bellevue West Thunderbirds 41-0. OK so I know you just went "wow they are horrible" and I have no problem with your opinion, but you, my friend, are wrong. We are not horrible AT ALL. First drive on Friday night, we had them pinned with a 3rd and about 15. Pressure pn the QB, pass deep for a TD. After that, we just gave up. After a huge speech from coach Thurston in the locker room at halftime, the boys came out with a fire in their eyes, but it didn't help one bit. Central this Friday night, yet another chance to take on a ranked team. Can we beat this team? Hell yeah we can beat this team. Hell, we can beat any team in the state. We just cannot give up. As for Notre Dame, well at least they have a shot at Michigan. Chad Henne will not be playing this weekend due to an injury sustained in the Oregon game.

One month, 9 days until the UNO Mavericks take on the University of Manitoba

goodnight

Are you Ready for Some Football?

Oh my god. It is finally here. The time every real man waits for. The time when body paint is acceptable on huskier men. The time when its ok to crack open a beer or two at 8 AM during the tailgate before the big game. Yes, football is here. Last Friday night, Omaha Bryan unleashed their annual owning of Omaha South, beating them 28-14. Jeremy Wallace had 113 yards in the opening game. They looked shaky early in the game, letting the Packer offense trampse all over them, but in the end, the Bears pulled it out, then playing Lincoln Northstar where they lost 28-6. Yesterday, Michigan was upset by Appalachian State. Notre Dame was beat bad by Ga. Tech. The 'Skurs opened up playing against Nevada, they beat the living daylights out of them, but yet, the 'Skur faithful were jumping up and down freaking out because of some lame win against some lame team.

Short post this week, but yet, even closer to hockey season

Approach The Bench

Another week has passed, and that means we are another week closer to college football, and college hockey.
So, this is the final stretch for the MLB season, and I've done some research on the teams in contention for the Fall Classic and this is my analyzation of all the races including the wildcards and my prediction for the World Series.

AL Wildcard
New York Yankees-They have stormed back from an over 13 game deficit in the AL east to only be 4 games back as of right now. If they can continue their winning ways I think they can win the AL wildcard and get into a the divisional round of the playoffs
AL EAST
Boston Red Sox-What is there to explain? They currently have a 5 and a half game lead on the Yanks, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz are just beasts, their starting rotation is absolutely phenomenal, and they added Eric Gagne to their bullpen which was already great.
AL CENTRAL
Honestly, this one could go either way. The Cleveland Indians are up 1 game on the Detroit Tigers in a tight race that will come down to late in the season. Detroit has lost 7 out of the last 10 and Cleveland has lost 6 out of the last 10. Detroit was the runner-up last year in the World Series and that is the only reason I am picking them to win this division.
AL WEST
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim-They have a high-powered offense led by Vladamir Guerrero. They have a great starter in Brandon Lackey and barring any sudden streak that LAA goes winless in 10 games, I don't think they will lose this division, currently with a 3 and a half game lead on the Seattle Mariners
The AL Pennant
Well, I think the Angels and the Red Sox will play for the pennant, Boston defeating Los Angeles in 6 games. Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz and company are just too powerful for the LAA defense. Although Detroit may make a run down the stretch, I don't think they are good enough to defeat the Angels to get to the AL Championship Series.
NL Wildcard
If Chicago wins the NL Central, the Milwaukee Brewers will win the Wildcard, after giving up an over 10 game lead in the Central.
NL EAST
New York Mets-David Wright has been on fire lately, as the Mets have won 6 out of the last 10. They have a 4 game lead on the Philadelphia Phillies, who have been hot as well, but the Mets will get it done with Pedro Martinez due to come back in early September.
NL CENTRAL
Chicago Cubs-After a hideous first half of the season, the Cubs have been virtually unstoppable since the all-star break. Alfonso Soriano has hit an awesome bat starting in centerfield, and Carlos Zambrano has been unhittable his past few outtings as the Cubs are only 1 game back of the Brewers.

NL WEST
Arizona Diamondbacks-The D-Backs have been playing stellar ball the past few weeks, and with the help of Eric Byrnes and Steven Drew, the offense has just been clicking. The bullpen is lead by a veteran Livan Hernandez and a submarine-style closer Byung-Hyun Kim
NL Pennant
I have no doubt in my mind that the New York Mets will win the NL pennant and play Boston for the World Series.

WORLD SERIES
If David Wright continues his stellar season, the Mets will have no trouble with the Boston Red Sox in the World Series, except for 2 games. The Mets will win the World Series in 6 games with the help of David Wright's bat and his glove, and Pedro Martinez's arm in the rotation. The Mets will win their first World Series since 1986.

The NFL Preseason is underway, and I would just like to give a shoutout to Tom Brady and the Patriots...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You guys were pwnd by the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS who, if you didn't know, were the laughing stock of the NFL last year. So you have to ask yourself these questions, 1) Is is the demise of what was the New England Patriots? 2) Is this the re-rise of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? That is for you to think about. In other NFL news, the Oakland Raiders won their first preseason game against Cali-boy Matt Leinart's Arizona Cardinals, Brady Quinn didn't play against the Cheifs, and Indianapolis was pwnd by Dallas.
College football is now just 16 days away. I gave my predictions on my last blog, but did not go very in depth. So in a nutshell, USC is going to own everyone in their way, again, Michigan will be better than last year, Texas will win the Big 12, and play for the National Championship, but will get pwnd. Notre Dame will be mediocre compared to last year. Nebraska will still not restore the order.
UNO hockey is only 2 months and 6 days away. I have huge expectations for this years team, but yet I still have a feeling they might be inconsistent once again and blow everything down the stretch they worked so hard to get during the regular season. IMO, Michigan will not be good this year at all, they lost goon of the year winner, Jack Johnson amongst many other graduates/draftees. Michigan State will be good again this year, along with Notre Dame, who won 24 conference games last year.
That was this last week in a nutshell.
Have a great week.
